The Department of Orthopedic Surgery in Mayanei HaYeshua performs both urgent (fractures) and elective orthopedic surgery - such as in arthritic diseases of the hands, feet, shoulders, etc.

The Department's activity:
Surgery is performed on older patients with pelvic fractures, and also on children with traumatic injuries.
Elderly patients have special treatment needs distinct from the young population, the main aspect being rehabilitation.
This older population, usually suffering from a large number of background illnesses, are operated on in the hospital by specialized physicians only. After surgery they are placed under stringent supervision in the Intensive Care Unit, and only 24 hours after the operation are they transferred to the Orthopedic Department, where they begin the process of rehabilitation, so important to their successful return to normal life.
