Mayanei HaYeshua laboratories, which rank among the most sophisticated and technologically advanced in the country, provide services to all departments in the hospital, in addition to private, external clients. They are staffed by highly qualified and experienced laboratory technicians, the majority of whom hold academic degrees.
Although they specialize in different areas of activity, all the laboratories are concentrated in one area. This facilitates cooperation between them, sharing of information, and distribution of relevant clinical information in real time, enabling results to be received with minimum delay.
Most of the work of the laboratory is computerized. Most tests are conducted using automated systems, which enables a variety of diagnostic tests and analyses to be performed using one blood sample.
The work in the laboratories is performed under stringent external quality control, and internal quality control is conducted on a daily basis.

The Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory at Mayanei HaYeshua is a modern integrative laboratory, which performs over 50 different kinds of tests.
Some 1,500 different tests are performed every day on blood and various body fluids, for Mayanei HaYeshua inpatients and clinics, as well as private clients.
Results of urgent tests are given 24 hours a day, by a staff working in 3 shifts.
Areas of testing
- Routine chemistry – blood gases tests, sugar, proteins, fats, c-reactive protein, tests for jaundice, urine, and analysis of cerebrospinal fluid.
- Immunochemistry – biomarkers for the diagnosis and prognosis of cancer, and heart disease, tests for anemia, and for measuring the blood medication levels.
- Endocrinology – Thyroid gland function
Hematology Laboratory
• Blood counts – performed with automated blood counting machines, including automated reticulocyte counting • Blood cultures and blood staining to diagnose anemia and other pathologies • Cell counts on body fluids and blood sedimentation • Routine measurement of blood coagulation rates (PT/APTT) and fibrinogen testing • D-Dimer tests and congenital G6PD tests in newborns.
The laboratory staff participates in professional forums in various fields such as hematology and coagulation, and in external quality control programs.
Blood Bank
The Blood Bank supplies blood components such as irradiated, washed or screened blood cells. It performs blood group tests, antibody tests, blood group analysis performed automatically by a WA Diana, direct Coombs test, antibody identification, and preparation of blood components for patients with antibodies.
The Blood Bank also supplies blood units and blood components for treating newborns and premature infants.
