Come and be tested today, for the sake of your health tomorrow!
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women. However, early detection of breast cancer increases the likelihood of cure to about 90%.
A mammogram and clinical breast examination by a doctor are the most widespread methods for early detection of breast cancer. When tumors are detected in the early stages (smaller than 10 mm) the chances of a complete cure are more than 90%.
Studies show that mammographic screening reduces mortality from breast cancer, especially in women between the ages of 50 and 69.

What is a Mammogram?
The mammogram is a test intended for women without prior symptoms. Its purpose is to detect breast cancer in its early stage, when the initial malignant changes in the breast, such as small lumps, cannot be felt. The test is included in the "basket of services" provided under the National Health Insurance Law, and women between the ages of 50 and 74 are entitled to have one test every two years free of charge. Women in high risk groups are entitled to the examination from an earlier age, once a year.
Since 1996, on the initiative of the Israel Cancer Association, there has been a national program to increase women's awareness of mammography. The program is operated by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with 4 health funds. Under the program, women in the appropriate age group are sent a letter inviting them to come and be tested, and their response is followed up.
If you experience one or more of these symptoms (even if your most recent mammogram was normal), you should consult your physician immediately. After investigation, while most of these symptoms will be found to be benign, they should not be overlooked, since in certain cases they can indicate the presence of a malignant tumor.
Just as in any other medical procedure, a mammogram can in a very small proportion of cases fail to detect a malignancy. In women over the age of 50, the test is expected to detect 90% of true malignancies.
