Mayanei HaYeshua Medical Imaging Institute performs diagnostic and interventional imaging tests and procedures, using the most up-to-date technological equipment.
The Institute has a professional and skilled medical imaging team which includes radiologists, radiographers, and medical secretaries, serving all the departments of the Medical Center and the Emergency Rooms.
There is also a clinic for ambulatory patients from the general public.
Imaging tests performed at the Institute:
• General X-rays • Ultrasound • Mammography • Computed Tomography (CT) • Interventional Radiology • Scanning
General Radiology
The General Radiology Unit employs a range of imaging techniques on all organs of the body, as prescribed by the referring physician, with emphasis placed on quality control. Also performed are fluoroscopic examinations of the gastrointestinal and urinary tract, HSG (X-ray of the uterus), X-rays by portable X-ray machines taken to the patient's bed, C-arm fluoroscopy in the operating rooms. The fluoroscopy tests are all performed by radiologists, under the supervision of a senior physician. Some tests require prior preparation.

Ultra-sound Unit
A sophisticated ultrasound machine is employed to perform a variety of different tests, including ultrasound scans of the abdomen, gall bladder, kidneys and urinary tract, prostate gland, thyroid gland, various Doppler tests, and others. An ultrasound scan is painless, and there is no radiation. All the tests are performed by radiologists. Children are treated by a special pediatric radiologist (by prior arrangement).
At this stage the tests are performed only on inpatients and members of Meuhedet Health Fund.
Computed Tomography (CT) Unit
Physician in charge – Dr. Ora Tranevsky
Outpatient tests are performed on Sundays – Thursdays between 8.00 and 15.00.
The CT machine in this unit is one of the new generation of Multislice CT scanners, which perform a range of advanced CT tests with a speed and accuracy previously unknown in the world. The expert imaging team keeps up to date with the latest tests being introduced.
In addition to the regular CT scans performed on the head and neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, and limbs, other special tests are carried out, such as venous angiography, three phase CT of the liver, CT arthrography, and other many and varied tests.
CT scans on children are concentrated on one day of the week under the supervision of a radiologist and when necessary, performed under anesthesia administered by a pediatric anesthetist.
CT scans
A CT scan is a diagnostic tool which uses rotating x-ray equipment, combined with a digital computer, to obtain images of the body. Using CT imaging, cross-sectional images of internal organs, blood vessels, bones, and tissues can be produced with great clarity.
A CT scan is quick and painless, and takes less than a minute. In most cases, the length of time spent in the imaging room is from 5 to 15 minutes.
The CT scanner is a most important tool for diagnosing and planning treatment for various conditions such as cancer, infectious diseases, inflammatory diseases and genetic diseases.
