In cases where there is a problem of infertility or a woman suffers from recurrent miscarriages, evaluation of the uterus and fallopian tubes is required in order to locate the source of the problem and ensure that there is no obstruction in the fallopian tubes. These tests are performed for women at the Institute for Uterine X-ray and Fallopian Tube Catheterization at Mayanei HaYeshua. They are referred by the Gynecology Department or from the outpatient clinics at the medical center, and some patients come privately.

Uterine X-ray
Uterine X-ray is an imaging test to evaluate the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes. During the test, a contrast agent is inserted into the uterus and then the doctor monitors how the substance moves through the uterine cavity and its dispersion in the abdominal cavity. The physician examines whether the substance’s passage through the fallopian tubes is normal and uninterrupted. The test lasts a few minutes, and during it the patient may feel discomfort or mild pain, which will pass within a few minutes of the end of the test. Upon completion, the test results will be delivered on disk as well as in writing.
Fallopian tube catheterization
Fallopian tube catheterization is a minimally invasive medical procedure, performed to diagnose an obstruction in the fallopian tubes. (These are the tubes which connect the uterus to the ovaries, and allow the egg to pass into the uterus.)The procedure is performed under X-ray or ultrasound scanning, during which a catheter will be inserted through the cervix and uterine cavity, and into the fallopian tubes. The catheter is not only for examination purposes, but it also enables immediate treatment,where the doctor can try to open a delicate obstruction by mechanical passage or rinsing. This will avoid the need for laparoscopic surgery. During the examination, the patient may feel pain that will subside within minutes.
Due to the importance of the test, we reached an arrangement with the HMOs, allowing women who do not have private insurance to be admitted to "Mayanei Hayeshua" for the test.
