Gastroenterology Institute

Prof. Zvi Fireman, a graduate of the University of Bologna Faculty of Medicine in Italy, is the Director of the Gastroenterology Institute at Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center.
He specialized in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv.
He completed a research fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, USA.
He worked as a senior gastroenterologist in the Gastroenterology Department at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, and in the Gastroenterology Unit at Hasharon Medical Center in Petah Tikva.
He served as a consulting gastroenterologist for Leumit Health Services in Tel Aviv, and managed the Gastroenterology Institute at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera.

1983 – Board certification in Gastroenterology, Israeli Gastroenterology Association.
1981 – Board certification in Internal Medicine, Israeli Society of Internal Medicine.
1968–1974 – Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), University of Bologna, Italy.

Prof. Shmuel Odes, a graduate of the University of Cape Town, South Africa,
is a specialist in gastroenterology at Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center.
He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the College of Medicine in South Africa.
He later specialized in gastroenterology and liver diseases under the Scientific Council of the Israeli Medical Association and the Israeli Ministry of Health.
He completed training in gastrointestinal physiology at the University of California, San Diego, USA.
He served as Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unit at Soroka University Medical Center in Be’er Sheva.
He serves as a full professor at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Be’er Sheva.
In the past, he served as a specialist in gastroenterology and liver diseases at Assuta Hospital in Be’er Sheva and Yoseftal Hospital in Eilat.
He is a member of the Israeli Gastroenterology Association, the Israeli Society for Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, the American Gastroenterological Association (where he was elected a Fellow), the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation, and the Convocation at the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
He has been a principal investigator in a groundbreaking Crohn’s disease study supported by the prestigious Helmsley Charitable Trust in the United States for over a decade.

Abumukh Majdi, a graduate of Nursing studies at Ruppin Academic Center, is the Deputy Head Nurse of the Gastroenterology Institute at Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center.
He previously served as a gastroenterology nurse at the Gastroenterology Institute at Assuta Ra’anana.
In parallel, he worked at “Beit Balev” nursing home in Kfar Saba.
He later worked at the “Dvora Ben-Nordia” nursing home in Nordia.
He also worked in the General Surgery Department at Assuta Ramat HaHayal in Tel Aviv.
