The Psychiatric Day Care Unit at Mayanei Hayeshua is designed for people living with ongoing mental or emotional difficulties that affect their day-to-day functioning. It is designed for those who need structured care during the day but not overnight or on Shabbat. The unit operates with separate provision for men and women, making it well suited to the ultra-Orthodox and religious community.
Following an initial intake conversation with the applicant, and where the team sees a genuine motivation to improve, a personalised treatment plan is drawn up.
Patients come each morning to the spacious, welcoming unit, where they take part in a range of therapeutic activities that combine conversation, skill-building, and ongoing monitoring. Activity-based groups include art, music, gardening, study, and more, with Talmudic study also available for the men’s groups. This group work helps patients develop a range of abilities and skills — communication, empathy, working within a structured setting, and functioning within a community — so that, step by step, they regain the ability to live well and function healthily in everyday life.
Talking therapy runs throughout the week, both in groups and one-to-one: each patient receives individual sessions twice a week alongside group sessions. Medical reviews take place twice a week, and nursing support is provided daily.
With this broad, multidisciplinary approach and a calm, supportive environment, improvement in patients’ mental health is visible over the course of treatment.
The hospital is independent of the HMO, and members of all HMOs are accepted there.
Members of Meuhedet HMO and Maccabi are admitted to the clinic by presentation of a referral only or by payment according to the hospital's price list.
As part of the agreements also with Clalit and Leumit HMOs, Forms 17 will be given to the outpatient clinics, or a payment will be made according to the hospital's price list.
