About DBT
Borderline Personality Disorder is a disorder characterized by patterns of emotional instability. Sufferers of the disorder, which is caused a combination of biological factors and environmental circumstances, experience difficulty in regulation, difficulties in interpersonal relationships, difficulties in facing abandonment, an all-or-nothing worldview, and risky behavior – to the point of suicidal tendency. It is a common disorder, which manifests differently in every person who suffers from it.
DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) is a psychological treatment method developed for the treatment of borderline personality disorder and has been shown to be effective. The treatment, which is one of the few effective in these cases, is accepted by the World Health Organization and requires specialized training.
The purpose of treatment is to bring the person to a life worth living and to assist him in all facets of it. The treatment includes working on improving interpersonal relationships with family and society, imparting skills for emotional regulation, tools for coping with crisis or distress situations, and changing behaviors.
In the past, it was only possible to receive the treatment in private frameworks, at an especially high cost.
Establishment of the groups at the Mayanei HaYeshua Mental Health Center is therefore an essential solution that makes healing and growth possible for many sufferers, who until now had not had the treatment available to them.
In addition to Borderline
Personality Disorder, treatment is suitable for a variety of conditions, including: mood disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, complex PTSD, personality disorders and more.
The Groups
Treatment at the center is carried out in a small group of about 10 participants, who meet on a weekly basis (a total of 30 sessions). The facilitators hold an in-person meeting with each participant and then consolidate the group, hoping for it to be comprised of participants that are close in terms of age and marital status.
In the group sessions, the participants learn together with the facilitators, perform exercises, and share their experience. At each meeting, participants receive homework, assignments and worksheets. The atmosphere in the group is respectful and non-judgmental.
The psychiatric outpatient clinics at Mayanei HaYeshua Medical Center serve patients from across the country.
Members of Clalit and Maccabi Health Services must present a referral from their treating physician or family doctor.
Members of Meuhedet and Leumit Health Services must obtain Form 17 (financial authorization), and patients referred by the Ministry of Defense must present a treatment authorization form.
Arrangements are also available with various private medical insurance providers.
Patients without the required authorization will be charged according to the hospital’s standard rates.
