The Mayanei HaYeshua Medical Center operates the “Neshama” Volunteer Department in all hospitalization and administrative departments, with the main activities including provision of assistance to patients, their families, and helping the professional teams in their work.
The Neshama Volunteer Department is managed by the Headquarters and Service Division, and is responsible for the processes of locating, recruiting, placing, onboarding, and retaining volunteers. The role of the staff in the department is to create as precise a match as possible between the needs of the medical center and the needs and skills of the volunteers, to the satisfaction of the patients, the hospital, and the volunteers themselves.
The volunteer network’s activities revolve around giving to others, wholeheartedly, in the spirit of Judaism, while maintaining the values of the medical center, at all hours of the day. Volunteer activity is usually in shifts of at least 4 hours per week in the morning or evening, including a variety of volunteering activities on Shabbatot and festivals.
The first volunteers arrive at 6:15 AM to wash the hands of patients who cannot get up, and to serve hot drinks.

Ezer Mizion Association
The Ezer Mizion Association works to provide assistance to patients and their families:
Cafeteria Carts – Ezer Mizion operates a cafeteria cart project in the morning and evening, filled with all kinds of treats and offering hot drinks and refreshments to patients and their companions.
At Mayanei HaYeshua, there is a cafeteria cart in the main building and another cart in the Mental Health Center building.
Experiential Activities – For patients of the Mental Health Division, Ezer Mizion works extensively to promote experiential activities in coordination with the staff.
The Mental Health Division carries out extensive and unique work with professionalism and sensitivity.
- Training volunteers for the Mental Health Department
- Tsilei HaNefesh volunteers – volunteers coping with mental health challenges, trained in music, who come to bring joy to the departments accompanied by instructors
- Maor the Lego Man
- Patient care and transportation
Chasdei Yoel Organization
Family members who come to visit their hospitalized relatives at the medical center on Shabbat receive Shabbat meals.
For years, the Chasdei Yoel Association has been taking care of all Shabbat meal needs, including challah, wine for Kiddush, and everything else.
Meals are served in a quiet and pleasant place with a Shabbat atmosphere on the 2nd floor, to the left of the elevators. Signage is posted.
Kol Rina ViYeshua Organization
The Kol Rina ViYeshua organization assists patients and their families in a variety of areas:
1. Every day, the organization's volunteers distribute sandwiches to family members caring for their loved ones.
2. Patient care – organizing assistance and support in caring for patients, children and adults
Meirim LaCholeh
1. Guest Room – The Meirim LaCholeh organization operates a guest room at the medical center.
The room is equipped with a variety of hot and cold drinks, refreshments, sandwiches, pastries, soups, and more for patients’ family members.
The room is open:
On weekdays: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
On Shabbat and festivals: from the start of Shabbat until its conclusion.
2. Fridays – Cakes, drinks, and kits for patients, including Shabbat leaflets and more, are distributed every Friday.
3. Rosh Chodesh Activities – The organization’s volunteers come to sing and play music, bringing joy to the wards along with refreshments such as cakes, drinks, slushies, and more.
Yair's Gift Room
Yair’s Gift Room
Yair’s Gift Room is located next to the play room. The room serves as an island of joy and comfort within the hospitalization experience.
It was established by Mrs. Merav Hollander in memory of her son, Yair, z”l.
In the gift room, children are invited to choose a gift by presenting a special voucher they receive upon admission.
The room offers a wide variety of gifts for all ages, received monthly as donations from the Hollander family and other donors.
Many children have made it a custom to regularly donate their birthday gifts to the gift room.

Play Room
Play Room
• The children’s department operates a play room run by volunteers for the benefit of hospitalized children.
• The play room includes a variety of games, coloring and craft materials, music, and more.
• The play room is open daily from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
• In the morning, activities are held for the children by a team of teachers from the Mayanei HaYeshua Educational Center (operated by the Ministry of Education).
From the variety of volunteer activities in the hospital
'With You' Project: Operating Room Volunteers
The "With You" project is a unique project in which volunteers accompany every woman undergoing surgery, from the moment she is admitted to the room and left alone with the team until after she wakes up. The goal is to ensure that no woman feels alone during the stressful, exposed, and delicate moments when she is put into a room full of doctors and anesthesiologists, and when she may feel lonely. 'With You' volunteers are by the patient's side throughout - holding her hand until she falls asleep, and are again by her side when she wakes up. In addition, the volunteers serve as an important communication bridge between the medical team and the family members waiting outside, and assist in conveying information and support. The "With You" project is designed to ensure that every woman knows: You are not alone.
Medical clowns
Laughter and joy are great for healing. The medical clowns who heal patients in this way, work on a voluntary basis, coming to the sick beds to make the patients happy and give them a little hope in their situation. An adult patient or child who is afraid of treatment receives a little smile from the clown who helps him to overcome his fears.
Information Volunteers - Ask Me
The goal of the 'Ask Me' team is to help people find their way around the hospital and reach the department they are looking for quickly and efficiently. The information desk is located at the entrance to the hospital and assists in routing and guiding all those arriving at the medical center's gates to their desired destination.
“Happy” volunteers
Groups of musicians with musical instruments move between departments on erev Shabbat/holiday/Rosh Chodesh, as well as at special times such as Chol Hamoed. The volunteers enter the wards and create a joyous atmosphere.
Beauty Volunteers
Beauticians - At Mayanei HaYeshua, several professional beauticians volunteer to come to the psychiatric departments and the high-risk pregnancy department every week - to nurture and pamper the patients, each according to their request.
Committed to the Community
Adolescent boys and girls with various disabilities volunteer as “Neshama” volunteers in the various departments, with close guidance and supervision.
The volunteers come into contact with regular working people, acquire new skills, and improve existing ones. They learn to speak, express themselves, and develop responsibility and commitment.
Volunteering is tailored individually to each volunteer and accompanied by a professional team from the institution/yeshiva.
