Nutrition and Dietary

About

The science of nutrition has advanced significantly in recent decades and is now a cornerstone of treating illness and managing health conditions. Proper nutrition is essential to normal
development, healthy living, and disease prevention, and has become an integral part of modern medicine.

In the Nutrition and Dietary Unit, qualified, licensed dietitians provide professional support throughout the hospital — both in inpatient departments and outpatient clinics.

The unit’s staff helps the medical center offer each patient a menu suited to their nutritional needs, in keeping with both their medical and religious dietary requirements.

Dietary adjustments are sometimes needed during a hospital stay. The treating team arranges a suitable menu and, when necessary, advises the patient and their family on any dietary restrictions required.

Important to know

  • For kashrut reasons, please do not bring cooked food into the medical center.
  • If family members would like to provide food in addition to what's on the menu, please consult the treating staff regarding the patient's dietary restrictions first.
  • Inpatients who require a special diet for any reason — including a health-related dietary restriction — are asked to inform the treating staff, so the department can arrange suitable food for them.
