Psychogeriatrics is a medical field that deals with the mental health of the elderly (65 years of age or older).
The Psychogeriatric Clinic at the Center for Mental Health deals with the diagnosis and treatment of:
Affective mental disorders like depression, mania, anxiety
The clinic has a multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and art and creative therapists.
The goal is to bring healing, a return to functionality, improvement to the patient’s quality of life and that of his family, and to prevent deterioration of the mental state.
Preliminary diagnosis: interview with the patient and family members; psychiatric and cognitive evaluation
Building a personalized treatment plan: adjusting medication and/or psychotherapy; giving guidance to the family
Contacting the family physician
Referral to community support: welfare, day centers for the elderly and more
Further treatment and monitoring
The hospital is independent of the HMO, and members of all HMOs are accepted there.
Members of Meuhedet HMO and Maccabi are admitted to the clinic by presentation of a referral only or by payment according to the hospital's price list.
As part of the agreements with Clalit and Leumit HMOs, Forms 17 will be given to the outpatient clinics, or a payment will be made according to the hospital's price list.
