The Mental Health Department at Mayanei Hayeshua was established to provide culturally sensitive care for a community that, in the past, had no suitable option in Israel. The center’s clinics and inpatient departments allow observant Jewish families to get the right help for their loved ones, in an environment that respects their way of life.
A further need the center identified was care for Israel’s English-speaking population — which includes immigrants from many English-speaking countries, as well as students who come to Israel for a time. Unlike care in most other fields of medicine, mental health treatment is built on conversation, and depends on a genuine understanding of the person and what they need.
That, in turn, depends on real familiarity and careful cultural sensitivity.
The Mental Health Clinic for English Speakers at Mayanei Hayeshua offers professional care to these communities within a public-service setting. The clinic has a broad team of psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers. After an intake meeting, the patient’s needs are identified and a treatment plan is drawn up; the patient is then matched with the right care, in the form and at the frequency that suits them.
This is an outpatient clinic and does not include hospitalisation. It first opened in Jerusalem, and a second clinic is now being set up in Bnei Brak.
The hospital is independent of the HMO, and members of all HMOs are accepted there.
Members of Meuhedet HMO and Maccabi are admitted to the clinic by presentation of a referral only or by payment according to the hospital's price list.
As part of the agreements with Clalit and Leumit HMOs, Forms 17 will be given to the outpatient clinics, or a payment will be made according to the hospital's price list.
