Prof. Yaakov Amir, a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University in conjunction with Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem,
is the Head of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Unit at Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center.
He completed his residency in pediatrics at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva,
and later specialized in infectious diseases at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.
He served as a visiting professor at the research institute of the Children’s Hospital in Oakland, California,
in the Infectious Diseases Unit at Long Island Children’s Hospital in New York,
in the vaccine development research laboratories of Novartis in Siena, Italy,
and in the maternity department at Necker–Enfants Malades Hospital in Paris, France.
He established a unique clinic for the follow-up of children with congenital CMV infection.
He also served for many years as the Head of the Pediatrics Department at Schneider Children’s Medical Center in Petah Tikva.
He is a member of the Israeli Society for Infectious Diseases, the European Society for Infectious Diseases, and the Pediatric Association
